Definition of Curing:
Heating is used as a very effective means of accelerating the ‘curing’ process materials such as polyurethane rubbers and plastics, platinum silicone rubbers and epoxy and other thermoset resins, inks and coatings. Curing is also a technique used with a wide variety of surface coatings. The objective in most cases is to toughen or increase cross-linking in the material.
The heat is usually accelerating an oxidation, polymerisation or drying process. It may also be used to assist in degassing the resin by reducing the viscosity of the procured compound.
Mould making, electronic potting and many types of surface treatment.
